New Release: Getting Him Back

Title: Getting Him Back (Ethan and Wyatt #1)

Author: K.A. Mitchell

Publisher/GR Link: Carina Press, GR

Genre: MM Contemporary

Vice: New Adult, OFY, Dark past

Rating: 4 stars

Lock this book up: 3 keys.  The sex is hot and supports the plotline.

Length: Approx. 133 page Novel

Satisfaction: HFN

Cover Impressions: Adorbs!

Best Line: “Big time stupid love with a guy who was always going to need to be convinced that things didn’t have to suck.”

SynopsisEthan may have followed his high school sweetheart to college only to get dumped his first day there, but he's not going to let that stop him from exploring all his new life has to offer. Sex-only hookups, his photography, new friends and a campus-wide game of zombies vs humans all help keep his mind off his broken heart and move him toward building a new, better life without his ex.

And then there's Wyatt. Mysterious, grouchy—hot. And possibly not gay. But Ethan's not going to let that stand in the way of figuring out what makes Wyatt tick. New college goal? Get Wyatt into bed and into Ethan's life.

Step one: arrange a "tutoring" date. Step two: "accidentally" bump into Wyatt as often as possible. Step three: explore the sexy body under that ever-present hoodie. And when their friendship deepens into something neither of them expect, convince Wyatt he's not just a pity fling or a one-time hookup, but that Ethan is in it for the long haul.

Impressions: This was an adorable New Adult romance.  This was a sexy, fun read, and even when it dealt with some tricky topics, it always kept me entertained and hopeful for these two guys to find their HEA.

This story deals with Ethan’s realizations that first love isn’t always the fantasy it seems, and Wyatt’s journey to realize that first love is sometimes just as amazing as it seems.  Wyatt has a mysterious past, and things that he is afraid to share, and it was wonderful to watch Ethan learn that not every challenge in his life is the worst thing that can happen to someone.

Ethan was adorable, but Wyatt really grabs your heart strings and pulls you into the page.  There were some great secondary characters, and an engaging and dynamic college setting.  Wyatt and Ethan get their HFN, but I think there is more story to tell, and I cannot wait to revisit them and learn even more about their journey to their HEA.

New Release: Clockwork Heart, by Heidi Cullinan

Title: Clockwork Heart (Clockwork Love bk #1)

Author: Heidi Cullinan

Publisher/GR Link: Samhain, GR

Genre: MM Steampunk

Vice: OFY, Steampunk, War, Scars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Lock this book up: 4 keys…This book is hot!

Length: Novel

Satisfaction: HEA

Cover Impressions: I love it!

Best Line: “You cannot erase the darkness.  But you can bring as many candles with you as you like.”

Synopsis: As the French army leader’s bastard son, Cornelius Stevens enjoys a great deal of latitude. But when he saves an enemy soldier using clockwork parts, he’s well aware he risks hanging for treason. That doesn’t worry him half as much, however, as the realization he’s falling for his patient.

Johann Berger never expected to survive his regiment’s suicide attack on Calais, much less wake up with mechanical parts. To avoid discovery, he’s forced to hide in plain sight as Cornelius’s lover—a role Johann finds himself taking to surprisingly well.

When a threat is made on Cornelius’s life, Johann learns the secret of the device implanted in his chest—a mythical weapon both warring countries would kill to obtain. Caught up in a political frenzy, in league with pirates, dodging rogue spies, mobsters and princesses with deadly parasols, Cornelius and Johann have no time to contemplate how they ended up in this mess. All they know is, the only way out is together—or not at all.

Impressions: I love Ms. Cullinan, but I wasn’t sure about trying out a new Steampunk novel.  I shouldn’t have even hesitated! I have LOVED her Special Delivery series, and A Private Gentleman is an all time favorite.  This book also just swept me away.

The setting was amazing in this novel.  I didn’t follow a lot of the alternate history in the introduction, because I am not a huge history buff, but Cullinan did such a great job explaining the setting and world building that I felt like I was right there with this amazing cast of characters.

Cornelius is the type of character that you will fall in love with immediately, and Johann is the one who will capture your heart.  I loved both of these men, and the political intrigue was fast paced and engaging.

I loved the various characters in this novel, and I am so eager to hear some of their stories.

Lastly, this book was SEXY and sooo hot!  The romance was amazing, and I will add this to the list of amazing books from this incredible author!

New Release: Inversion Point (Chaos Station #4)

Title: Inversion Point (Chaos Station #4)

Author: Jenn Burke and Kelly Jensen

Publisher/GR Link: Carina Press, GR

Genre: MM Futuristic, Science Fiction

Vice: Science Fiction, Space Travel, PTSD

Rating: 5 stars out of 5

Lock this book up: 4 keys.  This is a hot, sexy series that builds on an incredible love.

Length: Novel

Satisfaction: HEA, with some more to follow!

Cover Impressions: I love the look of this whole series.

Best Line: “Never letting go.”

Synopsis: Zander and Felix's relationship has been to the brink and back: the Human-Stin War, imprisonment and an actual death/resurrection. Zander's death, to be specific, and the experience has left him…changed. The mysterious race known as the Guardians chose to revive him and appointed him as their emissary. A high honor, but he could do without the group of would-be cultists following him around the galaxy.
When a recently discovered species destroys a stin probe, Zander's new role soon commands all of his time and focus. The human ambassador—Felix's ex-lover, much to Zander's annoyance—pulls them into strategy talks aimed at preserving galactic peace. Soon everyone is relying on Zander's Guardian tech to telepathically communicate with the strange aliens.
Only Felix seems concerned with the strain piling up on Zander, but he has his own resolve tested when the very stin that imprisoned him show up to a summit. Zander and Felix will both have to find a way to face their doubts and preserve their love—while preventing another galaxy-wide war.

Impressions: I could write for hours about this series, but the simple truth is that this is everything that is wonderful about a great science fiction adventure, a great romance, and a great story all in one amazing series.

This book was non stop action and had me glued to each page.  In fact, I was up about 3 hours past my bed time finishing it!  I was about 44% into the story, convinced I was going to read to the end of the chapter, and then- BAM!  I couldn’t dream of putting the book down until I had seen how things progressed.

Zed and Felix are such complex and real characters, and I love learning more and more about them as each book gives us more of their past, and shows us more of their future.  Seeing more about Zed’s family in book 3 really helped me to understand him, and in this book I was really eager to learn more about Felix’s past.  Burke and Jensen expertly weave backstories into the current plotlines as they develop the love and relationship between Zed and Felix.  With each new chapter of this series we get to see more of what makes Felix and Zed so hurt, and so perfect for each other.

What I really loved in this book was the continued world, or universe, building.  I have been in love with the Ashies, and I loathe the Stin, and I was captivated by the new discoveries that I unfurled in this book.  The plot moves along at a perfect pace, and the new developments in action and plot help to highlight the evolutions of the main characters that we love.  These stories have an amazing cast of secondary and tertiary characters that I love, hate and love to hate.  I hope we see more in book 5!

I closed this novel with a great feeling of satisfaction, eagerness and anticipation.  I gleefully suffered a terrible book hangover all day, and I cannot wait until book 5 in May so I can see where these wonderful characters will leave us.  I trust Burke and Jensen will make book 5 as amazing as 1-4, but I don’t know if I can let these guys go!  They are some of my all time favorite MM pairs, and this might be one of my all time favorite series in ANY genre.
